Weapon of Choice...

Hey Guys,

So I have some pretty exciting news about a recently finished little project. I know my last blog said that I was going to post the next day but it took a bit longer than expected and I had to wait on some parts. What I am talking about is the new Specialized Shiv. The new design for this year throws out all the UCI rules and this allowed the designers to make an extremely triathlon specific bike. The aerodynamics are phenomenally fast and there are some features you wont see on any other bikes this year, such as a water bladder integrated into the down tube of the frame.
Moving from the Transition to the Shiv I could already tell there is a little more aggressive geometry without sacrificing any comfort. Another big plus about this move is my newfound respect for bike mechanics everywhere. Since I had recently upgraded my Transistion to Sram Red components I only ordered the new frameset and built it up myself. It took about a week longer than I expected, but I really wanted to take my time and get it right. I must say that I am very pleased with the way it turned out. A special thanks to Pedal the Planet bike shop for getting the frame so quickly, helping me order all the necessary pieces, and answering any tech questions I had to make this a successful build.

In other news my IT Band/ Hip-Flexor/ not really sure what the hell it was/ problem is finally starting to go away and I am slowly revving up the training.

Until next time keep training,

….RUN!

So I was hesitant to post on Monday after my run, there was little pain but I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just temporary and another flare up was around the corner. But after an upper body focused swim (3000m of pull) I went for another 4 miles, this time on the treadmill. Along with some intense stretching I was still pain free in the hips, and today I woke up feeling great. This has been a huge relief to me since I was quickly falling behind on my run training it seems like I will be able compete in the half iron in may as long as I get my act together and butt in gear!

In some other big news I would like to announce my renewed partnership with K-Swiss. I was part of their K-Fast Team (sponsorship program for amateur athletes) last year and recently found out that I have been accepted for 2012 as well. I am super excited to run in the K-Swiss kit again this year and look forward to representing the brand well. If you are a triathlete or runner make sure to head over to their website and check out their gear!

Until next time, keep training!
